About - The Artist - Courses - Booking
The painting Courses will run on a Saturday to Saturday basis and follow the schedule below.
Flexible course will be tailored to individual requirements which will be suitable for both beginners and intermediate students. Watercolour painting courses will be underpinned by drawing techniques, studies in tone and texture and good practice with paint and colour mixing. We will work at La Cidrerie and on location, weather permitting.

Course Dates:
Sunday May 1st - Saturday May7th
Sunday May 8th - Saturday May 14th
Sunday May 15th - Saturday May 21st
Sunday October 9th - Saturday October 15th
Materials required for the Course
Paints: Any variety of watercolour paints will be fine. However Winsor and Newton paints in pans or tubes are always very reliable. The following colours will mix into a beautiful range of shades.
- Winsor Blue (green Shade)
- Cadmium Lemon or Winsor Lemon
- Permanent Rose
- Ultramarine or Cobalt Blue
- Transparent Yellow / New Gamboge or Winsor Yellow
- Winsor Red
Paintbrushes: A variety of paintbrushes can be used, the larger the better, including large Chinese brushes which are ideal and cheap.
Other Materials:
- Paper - Any good quality watercolour paper will be good, the heavier the better eg 140lb Arches or Bockingford with a rough surface.
- Paintbox and pallet
- Pencils, rubber and a hard back A5 sketchbook
- Charcoal
- Drawing paper
- Bulldog Clips
- Water pot
During the course any extra materials which you may need will be available for loan or purchase eg. easles and drawing boards, larger sheets of paper. Hilary will be able to provide most of the basic materials. |
